Posted by Laura Borkenhagen on Friday, October 7, 2011,

If I have a 1 hour photo shoot scheduled and it rains . . . we reschedule.  So what do you do when it's a dreary, rainy day on someone's wedding day?  You have fun with UMBRELLAS!!!

We had a great time with Jason and Jess and their entire wedding party!

August in Wisconsin is an incredible month for a wedding.  Combine that beautiful weather and sunshine with a stunning bride, fairy tale dress, an adorable little boy, and nicest people you can image. . . that was the Wigg Wedding!  What an honor to photograph their day - Thank you to Charlie and Christine (and your entire wedding party, family and friends), you were all such a joy!

Here is a sneak peak of the day!

Posted by Laura Borkenhagen on Friday, August 12, 2011, In : Photography

Summers in Wisconsin are close to perfect. The sun rises early bringing warm temperatures without humidity and the evenings bring a breeze off the lake cooling down the day just when it’s needed. This perfect summer weather is also perfect for photography. . . which has made us very busy. This is my long, drawn out excuse for not blogging in a while. (please forgive me!)

We’ve had the opportunity to photography some pretty incredible weddings. And, I’m very far behind on blogging, so I’...

Wedding Photos - at the Marina

Posted by Laura Borkenhagen on Saturday, June 11, 2011, In : Photography

I was excited when Julie, someone I've known since our days of high school soccer practice, started asking questions about my offerings for wedding photography.  Her and Matt had a destination wedding, but were planning a small reception after they got back home.  We decided to meet at the Port Washington Marina, a place we worked together for years, and also to the bluff to take photos - Port Washington is beautiful even on a foggy, not so summer like day!

Julie looked beautiful of course!

First Wedding of the Season  //  Laura Borkenhagen Photography  //  Wedding Photographer

Our first wedding of the season was full of BIG things . . . BIG smiles, BIG surprises, BIG personalities, BIG laughs, and BIG FUN!

Sometimes the photographers job at the wedding is to encourage smiles, there are a lot of nerves and stress that you of course want to capture, but you have to get some smiles too.  It was no problem getting this group of to smile . . . and laugh:

WEDDING BLOG

Posted by Laura Borkenhagen on Tuesday, January 25, 2011, In : Photography

Many brides (and grooms) that I meet with have so many questions, and are sometimes even a bit nervous about making a decision on a wedding photographer.  I thought I’d do my best to
offer up some advice on finding the best wedding photographer for you!
(And NO, I am not the perfect wedding photographer for everyone!)

DO SOME RESEARCH
In the digital age, you should be able to do some quick research online.  A photographer who is an expert in digital photography should be able to have at least...

Family Photos and Special Friends

Posted by Laura Borkenhagen on Sunday, January 2, 2011, In : Photography

A few weeks ago Billy and I got to spend an evening with Billy's childhood friend Ryan and his family.  I met Billy and Ryan at the same time during my freshman year of college - they attended a junior college together during their first year of school but they drove down to UW-Milwaukee on Thursday nights to attend Milwaukee's Campus Crusade for Christ. This is where I met all of the "Mayville Boys".

After that first year of school together, Billy transfered to UW-Milwaukee to start his de...

Clicking the shutter, just for me.

Posted by Laura Borkenhagen on Saturday, December 18, 2010, In : Personal

With a little bit of a crazy schedule these past 4 months (grad school, full time work, and a photo business) there has been almost no opportunities where I took photos just for me.  Looking back at the last few months, every time I clicked the shutter, it was for a client. . . until last week.

A very special friend of mine plays high school basketball.  As soon as my semester was finished I looked up her schedule and headed over to the high school gym.  I had fun going back to a high school ...

Brian + Jenny - Winter Wedding

Posted by Laura Borkenhagen on Monday, December 13, 2010, In : Photography
When Jenny said they were getting married early in December I thought 'hmmm this may be challenging for photography."

We arranged to do the outdoor photos at The American Club in Kohler, Wisconsin.  The brick buildings and fabulous landscaping made for great backdrops during this time in-between fall leaves and winter white.  The best part is that there is a heated area near the gardens that allowed up to warm up in-between shots!  (thank goodness because we were cold!)

BLOG!

Hi - this is Laura Borkenhagen from Laura Borkenhagen Photography.
Up until now I've always used facebook as the place to announce things or ask you questions or just to share my thoughts on photography.  Many times my thoughts take up more than the 420 character 'status update' limit that facebook has . . .so now I'm onto blogging!

I plan to use this blog to do things that are different than the facebook page . . . I'm going to ask questions about photography style to get your opinions....
