New Products for 2011!

February 3, 2011

At LBP we always pride ourselves in providing 'fabulous photos at practical prices'. In order to provide fabulous photos you need two things, a great photo AND a great printer!  Our professional printer starting offering their services to anyone (not just professionals) and we watched the quality drop almost immediately. Orders came with issues so they had to be sent back, delaying prints for our clients.

In the past month we have researched and found an all-professional printer.  There will be some changes, but I think you will like them all!  The changes you can expect are. . . new products, new shipping options, faster ship times, and a premium packaging option!

Details below:

NEW PRODUCTS:
With a professional printer comes professional products - you won't find these options at your neighborhood printer!

float wraps
Float Wraps add dimension by extending out from the wall. They are unique in that they appear to be floating on the wall putting the main focus on the image!

accordion mini books
Accordion Mini Books are perfect for displaying photos on your coffee table, at work, or to keep in your purse. The books are 3 X 3 inches, and come with your choice of a leather, fabric, or suede cover, available in lots of colors!

spiral books
Spiral books enhance your photos with a border, texture coating, and binding.  These 5X7 books make a great coffee table piece or a brag book!

SHIPPING OPTIONS
With the new printer comes some great new shipping options for you!

  - Customer Pickup: This is the low cost option for $4, your prints will arrive in 1-2 weeks and can be picked up at LBP in Howards Grove.

  - Standard Shipping: A flat rate of $7.50 for all print orders.  The prints will be shipped directly from the printer to you so you will receive them in about a week!

  - Express Shipping: A flat rate of $15 for all print orders.  The prints arrive in less than a week, usually about 2-4 days!

(There is a small additional charge for shipping products, this is noted when you are ordering)

All of these shipping options can be upgraded to "premium packaging".  Your prints will arrive in a sealed clear poly bag, wrapped in tissue paper, placed in a chocolate brown box, and finished with a bow!

I hope you enjoy all these new products and options!  Samples of all products and finishes will be available soon! Products are ready to be ordered on our ordering site: http://www.lbpclient.com/photocart/

Enjoy all the new options!

Smiles,
Laura

WEDDING BLOG

January 25, 2011

Many brides (and grooms) that I meet with have so many questions, and are sometimes even a bit nervous about making a decision on a wedding photographer.  I thought I’d do my best to
offer up some advice on finding the best wedding photographer for you!
(And NO, I am not the perfect wedding photographer for everyone!)

DO SOME RESEARCH
In the digital age, you should be able to do some quick research online.  A photographer who is an expert in digital photography should be able to have at least...

Editing Fun

January 11, 2011

Photoshop and digital cameras combined have opened up the world of photo editing.  My typical style is very natural, not overdone editing.  I want people to look at my photography and see the subject, not my editing.

Over the next few days and weeks I plan to post some editing questions hoping to learn about your opinions on editing.

But for today. . . I'd like to show you a special request edit.  A mother of one of the seniors that I photographed requested this.  Her son loves planes, so for...

Family Photos and Special Friends

January 2, 2011

A few weeks ago Billy and I got to spend an evening with Billy's childhood friend Ryan and his family.  I met Billy and Ryan at the same time during my freshman year of college - they attended a junior college together during their first year of school but they drove down to UW-Milwaukee on Thursday nights to attend Milwaukee's Campus Crusade for Christ. This is where I met all of the "Mayville Boys".

After that first year of school together, Billy transfered to UW-Milwaukee to start his de...

Christmas Traditions

December 25, 2010

I thought I'd share a personal story with you on Christmas!

This is our second Christmas together married, and we continued our tradition of baking Candy Cane Coffee Cakes together!  The tradition started when we were dating where all the baking took place in my very tiny apartment kitchen.

We make the same recipie each year - and my favorite part is that it takes at least 3 hours from start to finish - so we get spend all that time together in the kitchen!  We make the dough from scratch, le...

Clicking the shutter, just for me.

December 18, 2010

With a little bit of a crazy schedule these past 4 months (grad school, full time work, and a photo business) there has been almost no opportunities where I took photos just for me.  Looking back at the last few months, every time I clicked the shutter, it was for a client. . . until last week.

A very special friend of mine plays high school basketball.  As soon as my semester was finished I looked up her schedule and headed over to the high school gym.  I had fun going back to a high school ...

Brian + Jenny - Winter Wedding

December 13, 2010
When Jenny said they were getting married early in December I thought 'hmmm this may be challenging for photography."

We arranged to do the outdoor photos at The American Club in Kohler, Wisconsin.  The brick buildings and fabulous landscaping made for great backdrops during this time in-between fall leaves and winter white.  The best part is that there is a heated area near the gardens that allowed up to warm up in-between shots!  (thank goodness because we were cold!)

My favorite photo from ...

BLOG!

Hi - this is Laura Borkenhagen from Laura Borkenhagen Photography.
Up until now I've always used facebook as the place to announce things or ask you questions or just to share my thoughts on photography.  Many times my thoughts take up more than the 420 character 'status update' limit that facebook has . . .so now I'm onto blogging!

I plan to use this blog to do things that are different than the facebook page . . . I'm going to ask questions about photography style to get your opinions....
