Summers in Wisconsin are close to perfect. The sun rises early bringing warm temperatures without humidity and the evenings bring a breeze off the lake cooling down the day just when it’s needed. This perfect summer weather is also perfect for photography. . . which has made us very busy. This is my long, drawn out excuse for not blogging in a while. (please forgive me!)
We’ve had the opportunity to photography some pretty incredible weddings. And, I’m very far behind on blogging, so I’... Continue reading ...

I was excited when Julie, someone I've known since our days of high school soccer practice, started asking questions about my offerings for wedding photography. Her and Matt had a destination wedding, but were planning a small reception after they got back home. We decided to meet at the Port Washington Marina, a place we worked together for years, and also to the bluff to take photos - Port Washington is beautiful even on a foggy, not so summer like day!
Julie looked beautiful of course! ... Continue reading ...

What makes senior photos fun . . . making them UNIQUE!
We started at a park entrance, found a bridge, laid in the grass, went to the beach, changed clothing at least 3 times, accessorized, jumped, laughed, and in general. . . we had a lot of fun!
Thanks for such a fun, action packed photo shoot - I can't wait to show you the rest of your photos! Continue reading ...
Engagement Photos - All Natural

For this engagement shoot the couple requested more 'natural' photos. They didn't want to be too posed.
The perception that most people have about natural "photo journalistic' photos is that they truly happen all naturally. This is typically not true. Some posing does take place but once the couple is set up. . . I tell them to talk, or laugh, and just have fun while I click away capturing their fun. This couple was GREAT at just having fun, and there was definitely lots of laughing.

Many brides (and grooms) that I meet with have so many questions, and are sometimes even a bit nervous about making a decision on a wedding photographer. I thought I’d do my best to offer up some advice on finding the best wedding photographer for you!

Photoshop and digital cameras combined have opened up the world of photo editing. My typical style is very natural, not overdone editing. I want people to look at my photography and see the subject, not my editing. Over the next few days and weeks I plan to post some editing questions hoping to learn about your opinions on editing. But for today. . . I'd like to show you a special request edit. A mother of one of the seniors that I photographed requested this. Her son loves planes, so for... Continue reading ...

A few weeks ago Billy and I got to spend an evening with Billy's childhood friend Ryan and his family. I met Billy and Ryan at the same time during my freshman year of college - they attended a junior college together during their first year of school but they drove down to UW-Milwaukee on Thursday nights to attend Milwaukee's Campus Crusade for Christ. This is where I met all of the "Mayville Boys". After that first year of school together, Billy transfered to UW-Milwaukee to start his de... Continue reading ...

When Jenny said they were getting married early in December I thought 'hmmm this may be challenging for photography." We arranged to do the outdoor photos at The American Club in Kohler, Wisconsin. The brick buildings and fabulous landscaping made for great backdrops during this time in-between fall leaves and winter white. The best part is that there is a heated area near the gardens that allowed up to warm up in-between shots! (thank goodness because we were cold!)My favorite photo from ... Continue reading ...
